The pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly is planning to invest more than $6 billion in a new manufacturing facility that is expected to bring 3,450 manufacturing and construction jobs.

The facility is being built in Huntsville, Alabama, the company announced in a statement on Dec. 9 , and will produce small molecule synthetic and peptide medicines.

“Some of our biggest medicines will come here,” Lilly CEO David A.
