Police identified a man arrested in a Wednesday morning stabbing at Boston Medical Center that left a staff member with life-threatening injuries .

Branden Bannister, 37, of Roxbury, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with three felonies, according to a police report: assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and cocaine trafficking, more than 18 grams but less than 36 grams.

Officers responded to a call at the main entrance of Boston Medical Center at 2 a.m. Wednesday, police said. When police arrived, they found Bannister handcuffed and bleeding from the face.
