KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
A Kansas City man convicted in a fatal crash outside Arrowhead Stadium is now accused of leading troopers on a high-speed pursuit in which shots were fired at a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer.
Prosecutors charged Thomas J. Weyer, 23, with five felonies, including first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated fleeing. Advertisement
The charges stem from a Nov. 16 chase on Interstate 35.
According to court records, a trooper saw a gray Nissan Altima without plates traveling more than 100 miles an hour.
As the car fled at speeds up to 115 miles an hour, passengers allegedly fired at the trooper using handguns equipped with laser sights.
