EVERETT — A barge with an excavator on board appeared to be sinking in the Snohomish River in Everett.

A small group of people watched the barge Wednesday afternoon as it was partially submerged alongside a log yard near the river’s mouth, where it meets Port Gardner Bay.

The incident began Wednesday morning, and crews are on scene working, according to Everett Fire Department spokesperson Rachael Doniger. No injuries have been reported.

As of 3 p.m., there were no reports on the cause of the incident.
