This has not been a good week at all for the New York Mets faithful. The team lost two of their biggest fan favorites within only a couple of days. First, Edwin Diaz joined the Los Angeles Dodgers on a three-year, $69 million deal on Tuesday . The following day, Pete Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles . As things stand, the Mets have options to take the closer vacated by Diaz, but they need to find a starting first baseman for next season.
As per Tim Healey of The Boston Globe, the Mets are considering a move for Paul Goldschmidt.
