Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday said he would not allow "any speculation" against his country regarding future elections.

"If our partners – including our key partner in Washington – are speaking so much and so concretely about elections in Ukraine, about elections under martial law, we must provide legal Ukrainian responses to every question and every doubt," he said in his nightly video address.

While noting that Ukraine did "not need any pressure regarding this," Zelenskyy said he expected members of his country's parliament to "present their perspective".

And while Ukraine relied on its partners in security matters, "political and legal challenges" had to be addressed by Ukraine itself, the president reiterated.

Zelenskyy has expressed readiness to hold a presidential election within three months if safety and legal conditions are met, after U.S. President Donald Trump questioned Ukraine’s democracy.

In his address, Zelenskyy also spoke about a report by Ukraine's Intelligence Service on Russia's financial dependance on China.

"Throughout Russian history, no one has ever surrendered sovereignty so much to China or any other major power," the president said.
