CLINTON TWP. – Port Huron built a 29-10 lead after the first quarter Wednesday and never looked back in downing host Clinton Township Chippewa Valley 58-44 in the girls basketball season opener for both teams.

The Red Hawks led 40-23 at the half and 46-33 after three quarters of play before settling for a 14-point Macomb Area Conference crossover victory over the Big Reds.

Mariah Turner scored 28 and Karmea Jordan added 15 points for Port Huron.

Gracyn Carrier led Chippewa Valley with a game-high 29 points, but the rest of the Big Reds’ roster combined for 15 points in the loss.
