SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Idaho stormed into South Bend Wednesday night hopeful to upset the Fighting Irish on their home court. Despite a valiant effort, the ACC giants weathered the storm and pulled away from Idaho 80-65 Wednesday night in South Bend.
The Vandals went punch-for-punch with the Irish, at one point seizing the lead after a 10-0 run punctuated by a Jackson Rasmussen three-pointer.
Notre Dame's Cole Certa landed a layup with 31 seconds remaining to knot the game up at 33 headed into halftime.
In the second half, the Vandals ran out of gas. Jack Payne swooped a layup with 10:15 to play in the second half to pull the Vandals within 3, but that was as close as they would come to reclaiming the lead.
The Fighting Irish sank a handful of critical threes and held the Vandals scoreless
