FIREBAUGH, Calif (KFSN) -- A Firebaugh mother is now home with her family in time for the holidays after she was in immigration enforcement custody.
Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria told Action News that Maria Caballero was released after she was detained in October.
Soria says Caballero has been a part of the Firebaugh community for decades, raising her children.
Supporters say Caballero was in the process of obtaining legal work status after illegally entering the U.S. without proper documentation.
Soria says the Firebaugh woman was detained during her immigration appointment.
Action News first brought you Caballero's story in October, when dozens of people came to the federal courthouse in Fresno, demanding her release.
