CENTRAL FALLS – After Central Falls Fire officials arrived at 9 May St. at approximately 2:34 a.m. Wednesday morning in response to the first alarm of a four-alarm fire, crews from Pawtucket, Cumberland, and Lincoln were dispatched shortly after to provide mutual aid.

The fire, which reportedly caused heavy smoke in the basement and upper floors, ultimately displaced 18 residents, according to Battalion Chief Matthew Moulton.

Officials were able to confirm that all residents were accounted for from all three floors in the building. Once firefighters entered the building, they encountered “zero visibility and a high-heat condition.”

A primary search was conducted of the upper floors, and when mutual aid crew arrived, fire was seen coming from the basement, first, and second floors of the
