Long-range weather forecasts for the rest of December have not ruled out the possibility of a White Christmas.

Many will be hoping for a repeat of 2023, when snow was recorded at a number of weather stations across the UK on December 25.

The Met Office said 11 per cent of stations recorded snow falling, although none reported snow lying on the ground.

After high winds and even flooding in parts of the country as Storm Bram battered the UK , the unsettled weather is likely to continue in the week before Christmas before entering a calmer period.

The Met Office has predicted "further spells of rain” that could be “heavy” and “prolonged” across the UK from December 15 up until Christmas Eve.
