Information reaching this publication indicates that police in Zomba are searching for the mother of a newborn baby who was found abandoned outside the police hospital in the morning.

Witnesses reported discovering the infant between 5 and 6 a.m. and immediately alerted authorities.

Police officers responded quickly and rushed the baby boy to Zomba General Hospital, where he is receiving medical care.

Zomba Police spokesperson, Inspector Patricia Sipiliano, confirmed the incident. She added that more details will be provided as investigations continue.
