LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A 44-year-old Willoughby man who pleaded guilty in connection with a “swatting” hoax that sent multiple police officers to his apartment building, will be sentenced in Lake County Court of Common Pleas Thursday.
In November, Antonio Edwards Woods pleaded guilty to one count of making false alarms, a fourth degree felony.
Willoughby police said on Sept. 4, Woods called police from the Willo Park Apartments on Euclid Avenue and said he had just killed his girlfriend and was going to kill himself.
After nearly four hours, police searched all buildings on the properties at Willo Park and nearby Cedarwood Estates and found no evidence a crime had happened.
Woods was arrested several days later.
