Police have been called in after a council meeting had to be halted. Staffordshire County Council has been staging its first full council meeting this morning since the resignation of leader Ian Cooper following a racism row and his expulsion from Reform UK.

Staffordshire Campaign Against Racism and Fascism staged a protest outside today's meeting before entering the public gallery. But our reporter says the meeting has been suspended after the group repeatedly chanted inside the council chamber.

They have directed their anger towards councillors Peter Mason and Christopher Large who are the latest councillors to find themselves at the centre of a political storm over social media comments.
