Selfies are often taken to capture a moment, and these days, it's done more cleverly, to dish out a dose of FOMO to those not in the frame. Avid social media users would know that some of these posts are directed at people, and the purpose is served if that person, or a few people are on the "seen" list. The same seemingly holds true in the context of diplomacy too. Serving FOMO, or "fear of missing out" is exactly what the selfie of PM Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to have done.
