VANCOUVER, Wash. — A Vancouver man, arrested by federal agents and detained in Tacoma last week, has been transferred to an ICE detention facility in Texas.
Jose Paniagua Calderon, 27, was taken into federal custody on Dec. 4, an incident that was captured by a witness on cell phone. In the video, it appears the SUV hit something on the ground where Paniagua Calderson was sitting. His family believes federal agents rant over his foot during the arrest, and initially feared it was broken.
"He had no clue it was ICE. He thought he was just being stopped by police," said Carmen Paniagua, his sister-in-law, "He did tell us [later] that it wasn't broken, but that it did hurt. He was in pain."
The Department of Homeland Security fired back after the arrest, telling KGW that Paniagua Calderon
