The Election Commission on Thursday announced a revised timeline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six states and Union territories, following requests from their chief electoral officers.

The updated schedule applies to Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Uttar Pradesh, all of which were earlier expected to wrap up enumeration on Thursday, with draft rolls due on December 16.

Under the new plan, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have been granted additional time until December 14, and their draft rolls will now be published on December 19.

For Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the enumeration window has been extended until December 18, shifting their draft roll release to December
