As it prepares to turn 100, one of Ontario’s oldest parks is getting a facelift.
Officials gathered Tuesday afternoon at De Anza Park to break ground on a $15 million overhaul that will bring a soccer field, a new playground and a walking path. As well as, belatedly, Ontario’s first skate park and first splash pad.

(Ontario’s far smaller neighbors, Upland, Chino and Montclair, have had skate parks since 2002, 2003 and 2016, respectively.)
Credit Measure Q, the one-cent sales-tax measure approved by voters citywide in 2022. The measure is generating $65 million a year, primarily for capital improvements, including the Ontario Sports Empire complex now under construction , according to City Manager Scott Ochoa.
