Pitchers full of luminous cocktails, a pool table in the smoking area and toilets that would make even the hardest cleaner gip.

These are my stand-out memories of Vines in Sadler Gate, which closed in 2024. It's been an institution in Derby for decades and it was very sad to see it shut.

But "help is on the way, dear", as Mrs Doubtfire famously said. Hairy Dog owner Paul Keenan has taken it over and is planning to reopen the venue this weekend (Friday, December 12).
