For the second time this season, Collins High School boys basketball coach Chris Gaither has been suspended with pay while Shelby County Public Schools conducts an investigation.

Josh Rhodes, spokesperson for Shelby County Public Schools, said Gaither was suspended Dec. 11 as a result of the ongoing investigation.

On Dec. 10, Rhodes confirmed the school district received a letter from Hayley Murphy Weddle on Dec. 4. In the letter, Weddle alleges she was “groomed” by Gaither while serving as a team manager from the fall of 2012 until her graduation in May 2014.
