It didn’t take long for Josh McDaniels to know that Drake Maye was going to be a bona fide quarterback for the Patriots .
Appearing on the “ The Schrager Hour, ” New England’s offensive coordinator recounted a play during training camp that made him see just how talented Maye is.
“There was one in training camp where there was a broken play, and he scrambled to his right. He was literally almost out of bounds. He was a couple feet from the sideline,” McDaniels said . “He threw it, and it had to be like 60 yards,” “(Demario Douglas is) running down the sideline, and I’m like, ‘There’s no way he can get the ball to this guy, right?’
“Pop scores, and the place goes nuts,” he continued . “I kind of looked around like, ‘Did anybody else see that? That was nuts.’”
