Artesian Water Co. customers will see a credit on their bills after the utility announced it will use settlement money to offset the cost of treating PFAS contamination. The announcement comes as the company also moves forward with a separate request for higher water rates.
The company received about $7.2 million as part of 3M’s nationwide settlement over so-called forever chemicals. Nicki Taylor, Artesian’s chair, president and CEO, told Delaware Online/The News Journal that the money will be divided evenly among customers. Each will receive a credit of about $73, which will begin appearing on December bills.
