Mark Leiter Jr. has found a new home.
The reliever, non-tendered by the Yankees earlier this offseason , has agreed to a deal with the Athletics, according to multiple reports. The deal, still pending a physical, is for one year and will pay Leiter about $3 million, per ESPN’s Jesse Rogers .
Leiter was projected to earn $3 million in arbitration this winter before the Yankees made the right-hander a free agent. Initially acquired by New York from the Cubs before the 2024 trade deadline, Leiter posted a 4.89 ERA over 80 total games for the Bombers.
That includes a 4.84 ERA over 59 games in 2025. Some bad luck hurt the pitcher — Leiter’s .374 BABIP was the second-highest of any pitcher (min 40 IP), and he fractured his leg midseason while covering first base — but he struck out just
