Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has intensified oversight of IndiGo after the crisis-ridden airline cancelled more than 4,000 flights since December 2, impacting tens of thousands of passengers and causing significant disruption to travel plans across India.
A day after the IndiGo CEO was called to the Aviation Minister's office, Pieter Elbers has been summoned to appear before the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) four-member high-level committee on Thursday and again on Friday, sources said.
The panel probing the recent IndiGo fiasco has sought further clarification from the airline, even as Elbers and other senior officials had earlier briefed DGCA leaders with detailed reports on operations and recruitment practices.
