In a surprising development this afternoon, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem left a scheduled committee hearing on the Department of Homeland Security earlier than expected, citing the need to attend a meeting related to FEMA. The decision quickly raised questions after a member of Congress claimed that the meeting she referenced was not actually taking place.

Secretary Noem informed those present that she needed to depart in order to chair a meeting of the FEMA review council. However, Moskowitz later stated that he was told the meeting in question had been canceled.
