This week, Sanford and Avera health systems announced the top names for babies born this year so far, with Liam coming in first place for both hospitals. For the first time in four years, the name Oliver was bumped from first place at Sanford to second place and ousted entirely at Avera.

These names reflect over 9,000 deliveries at Sanford and 6,227 deliveries at Avera so far, a jump this year from 4,400 babies born at Avera in 2024.

Both health systems showed July as the most popular month for deliveries.

For the ladies, Emma was the top name at Sanford this year – a new one for their list – and Lainey was the top name at Avera, also new one for their list.
