Mossad Director David Barnea has appointed senior official A. as the agency’s next deputy director, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the appointment.

A., considered a contender to led the agency, has served in the organization for more than 20 years in a range of senior operational roles, including command of two divisions.
