CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The holiday shopping season is in full swing, and the Amazon facility in Cedar Falls is experiencing an increase in orders as Christmas approaches.
Scott Tuggle, the station manager, said the facility is expected to send out 21,000 packages per day in December. This location is a "last mile" facility, which means orders are packaged, loaded onto delivery trucks, and brought directly to customers' front doors.
The facility uses a unique system to manage inventory efficiently. Tuggle said, "It forecasts what demand is gonna have, high demand inventory, closer to customers, travel time, transportation time, ensures popular items are available next day delivery."
