The Friends of the Brockville Museum are ceasing operations, but they are leaving the institution a $668,000 parting gift.
Brockville council this week formally accepted a transfer of funds, valued at approximately $668,000, from the Friends of the
Brockville Museum, with the bulk of that amount, or $619,300, going to the city’s museum expansion reserve fund. Most of that large sum, or $402,000, came as a donation from the estate of the late Margaret Sye.

The rest will be placed in the museum board reserve fund.
City officials hope this financial legacy will allow the museum to continue to benefit from the Friends group’s fundraising efforts for years to come, despite the group’s pending demise.
