HOUSTON — Houston Texans minority owner Javier Loya has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL and fined $500,000 for violating the league's personal conduct policy. This comes nearly two and a half years after Loya was accused of groping and sexually abusing women during private parties in Kentucky.
Loya was originally charged with first-degree rape, five counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of third-degree sexual abuse . Then last year, according to ESPN , Loya accepted an Alford plea of "harassment with intent to annoy," and the seven charges were dropped. An Alford plea is when a defendant pleads guilty while maintaining innocence, acknowledging the evidence in the case would likely lead to a conviction.
