KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) -A local theater production is bringing stories of resilience to the stage, featuring real accounts from community members who have helped those facing addiction, illness and family struggles.

Cat Goguen, owner of Tri-County Mystery Meets, wrote the play “Resilience” as a two-act production that showcases both personal stories and the community’s response to the May E-F4 tornado.

“It takes a lot to share your darkest, most traumatic moments with people and to relive those yourself. Now, I hope it helps to bring healing,” Goguen said.

The first act features real stories of resilience. Melanie McFarland shares her story.

“Man, when you get to know someone’s why, it changes everything,” McFarland said.

Betty Mills, another cast member, will discuss her upbringing
