A body has tragically been found in the search for a missing man from Wigan, police have confirmed. Alan, whose surname was not disclosed by police, had been reported missing last week.

The 71-year-old had been last seen on Howden Drive in Wigan at around 6.10pm on Friday (December 5). An investigation was launched after he vanished.

Multiple appeals were shared following his disappearance. On Thursday (December 11), Greater Manchester Police confirmed a body had been found in the search for the pensioner and that it had been identified as missing Alan.

It has not been confirmed where the tragic discovery was made. Police confirmed Alan's family are being supported by officers and that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. View
