The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is in the middle of training its first therapy dog solely for 911 dispatchers. Echo, a Lagotto Romagnolo, is now five months old and working on the basic skills like sit, stay and shake, but already the dispatchers are enjoying her.
"She has just brought so much joy to our comm center, we've all thoroughly enjoyed taking turns, like taking care of her," said Amanda Mortimore, who has been working as a dispatcher for four years. "We have a Google Doc, and we all take turns looking at the Google Doc and seeing what time different needs need to be met. We all take turns meeting those needs. So I think she's honestly brought us closer together as like a communications family."
