Chandigarh Member of Parliament (MP) Manish Tewari on Thursday said that the central government chose to “completely obfuscate and cover up” the fact that the Union Territory’s (UT’s) Municipal Corporation (MC) since November 2024 has been repeatedly shifting deadlines for the clearance of the Dadu Majra garbage dump.
Tewari’s remarks came following the Centre’s response in the Parliament on his queries on the Dadumajra dump.
The Chandigarh MP had sought details from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs whether the government has reviewed the status of clearance of the Dadumajra garbage dump in light of multiple undertakings before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and assurances in replies, which committed to completing bio-remediation by December 2024 and later by July 202
