BELMONT – On the opening night of the MIAA winter season, defending Div. 1 boys hockey champion Catholic Memorial quickly picked up where it left off.
Powered by a potent offensive attack, the Knights shut out Belmont 6-0 to open with a non-league victory.
The night had a little more meaning than the stereotypical first game of the season. It was the first high school game at the Skip Viglirolo Skating Rink after the facility had been closed since 2022.
The Marauders’ boys and girls ice hockey programs called nearby John A Ryan Skating Arena home for the back half of the 2022-23 season and the entirety of the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, but will now return to their rebuilt home that is on the same grounds as the high school.
