GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Grant Parish Police Jury voted to pass a resolution declaring opposition to carbon capture sequestration during its annual jury meeting on December 11.
Following a public comment period, during which two individuals spoke in support of the resolution and one against it, the jury voted unanimously to pass the motion; two jury members were absent from the meeting.
Language in the resolution cites the jury’s “duty to protect the health, safety, property and welfare,” as well as raises public concerns for its decision to oppose CCS.
“The only reach-out that I had about it, [carbon capture sequestration] was opposed to it. There’s going to be a little kick back over it, I’m sure... we have to make a decision, and we have to move forward.”
