REDDING, Calif. - A heavy layer of fog at the Redding Regional Airport has resulted in the cancellation of five flights and caused significant delays for five additional flights so far this week.
On Wednesday morning, a San Francisco to Redding flight was canceled just before noon after being delayed for more than 12 hours.
Another flight from Seattle to Redding was diverted to Redmond, Oregon for refueling before eventually landing at Redding Regional Airport later Wednesday afternoon.
The delays were caused by reduced visibility from the thick and persistent tule fog.
The airport requires a minimum visibility of three-quarters of a mile for safe operations.
