A total of 22 Republicans broke party lines to vote to repeal President Donald Trump's executive order restricting union rights at federal agencies.
On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 232-194 to advance the Protect America's Workforce Act, which would repeal Trump's Executive Order 14251, according to Congress documents.
The executive order, signed in March, said that certain federal agencies would not be governed by the usual federal rules regarding labor-management relations , essentially meaning they would not have collective bargaining protections.
It mainly applied to agencies in intelligence, counterintelligence, investigative or national security work, with Trump arguing that the restriction was necessary for "national security requirements."
