Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday informed the Rajya Sabha that the Union Government was taking several measures to increase the production of pulses.
Chouhan said,” The government is taking several measures to increase the production of pulses. The government has formed the ‘Dalhan Mission’ for this purpose…. The government will buy Toor, Masur, and Urad pulses. Karnataka government’s request to the government to buy Toor has also been approved. We have taken many measures to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce. One of them is – increasing import duty to 10% on Masoor Dal and Channa…We will always protect the interests of our farmers.”
