Merseyrail train services are disrupted this morning (December 12) after a van smashed into a bridge in Bootle. Merseyside Police were called at around 7.45am on Friday with reports a van was stuck under a bridge on Bootle Oriel Road.

The collision is causing disruption to train services on the Southport line. The ECHO understands the driver has underestimated the height of the van and it has become stuck under the bridge. Emergency services are working to remove the van however it's unclear how long the incident will go on for this morning.
