On November 13, 2025, the Delhi High Court ruled that BSES Yamuna Power can grant or continue with electricity connections in properties which the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has labeled as ‘unauthorised construction’. However, the court made it clear that electricity companies like BSES Yamuna have the right to cut off electricity when the MCD takes action against these unauthorised construction properties.

This judgement came in reponse to an appeal against a directive from the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) which directed BSES Yamuna to grant electricity connections to properties marked as unauthorised construction.
