A rail company has launched a new service in North Yorkshire, offering passengers tickets for as low as £2 in the run-up to Christmas, as the timetable has been revealed.

Northern has introduced a new early-morning through service from Whitby as part of the “Rise and Shine Along the Line” initiative, beginning Monday, December 15, on the Esk Valley railway.

The service forms part of a wider December timetable change across the North East, which includes new routes, faster journeys and revised times designed to make rail travel easier and more reliable.
