New Delhi: The Geminids meteor shower is about to peak and continue providing skywatchers around the globe with one of the most spectacular celestial events of the year. Due to the bright yellow fireballs and reliability of the event, it is predicted that the event will be able to bring up to 120 meteors per hour during the nights of December 12 and 13. The lack of clouds, the low levels of light pollution, and patience will provide viewers with the most suitable opportunity to see the show.
Each December, the Geminids occur as the earth is passing through a belt of debris, which has been left behind by the asteroid 3200 Phaethon.
