Rail workers should be given free flu jabs to help avert Christmas cancellations and delays, a union has warned.

Transport employers across rail, bus and ferry services were urged to provide the vaccinations amid record levels of people in hospital in England with “super flu” .

The number of people in hospital in England with flu jumped by 55 per cent in a week – and NHS England has warned the health service is facing a “worst-case scenario” in December.

The Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) said transport workers were particularly at risk as they come into contact with thousands of passengers every day. New Feature
