Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday announced that the Cabinet has approved Rs 11,718 crore for Census 2027.

It is to be conducted in two phases - House listing between April and September 2026. Population Enumeration will be done in Feb 2027.

Census 2027 is going to be the first-ever digital census.
