Kincardine council is one step closer to finalizing its 2026 budget after a marathon meeting on Wednesday evening.
Council was able to discuss all of the changes to the proposed budget, including recruiting and hiring a new CAO and a new deputy fire chief, earmarking funding for the installation of bike lanes and associated signage on Russell and Durham Streets, and considering the expense of purchasing a landfill shredder.
After discussions, the current proposed tax rate increase sits at 2.88%.
The levy increase for the municipality sits at 3.66%.
The county’s tax rate increase has not been finalized by county staff, so the projected blended tax rate wasn’t available by the end of Wednesday’s municipal meeting.
