A woman has been arrested after stabbing another woman in a New York Macy’s store, according to police.

Kerri Aherne, 43, of Massachusetts, is accused of stabbing a 38-year-old woman multiple times inside of the Macy’s in New York City’s Herald Square, ABC reports. The New York Police Department said the victim was stabbed in the back and arm just before 3 p.m. while inside the store.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, police said. She is expected to survive.

Police sources told NBC the attack appears to have been unprovoked. It’s unclear if Aherne knew the victim, who was not identified.

Aherne has been charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
