Police swooped on a hospital as a nurse was left needing treatment after he was allegedly assaulted.
Police attended Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester at around 1.30am yesterday morning following the incident which saw a male nurse, aged in his 50s, injured.
The victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing and he has since been released from hospital, Greater Manchester Police says.
A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault (grievous bodily harm), the Manchester Evening News reports. It is understood the suspect had been receiving treatment in Wythenshawe Hospital at the time of the attack, and he remains in hospital.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly after 1.30am on Thursday, December 11 2025, to a hospital on Southmoor Road, Manchester to reports that a man had been seriously assaulted. Officers swiftly attended and within minutes, arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of section 18 assault.
"The man remains in police custody. The victim, a man in his 50s suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
"He has since been released from hospital. Enquiries are ongoing." Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Wythenshawe Hospital, has been approached for comment by Mirror Online.
