Charity Railway Children has partnered with Avanti West Coast to help train commuters spot vulnerable children at train stations.

Commuters are being called upon to help identify runaway children this festive season, as warning signs appear at railway stations nationwide. It follows alarming new research which shows that a child runs away from home every five minutes in the UK.

Avanti West Coast has partnered with Railway Children to raise awareness. Posters and notices have been placed on platforms along the West Coast Main Line to draw attention to vulnerable young people travelling alone. Shockingly, 78% of Brits confess they wouldn't confidently recognise a runaway, and 58% admit they wouldn't know how to respond if they suspected a child was in need of assistance.
