The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office seized one of the most unique, as well as inexpensive, moonshine-making machines ever confiscated. The still, found on a farm, is made from a 50-cent tea kettle, a 10-cent tin pail and a rubber hose attachment. Deputies also seized 25 gallons of mash.

Robert Amborn, a Saginaw farmer, stacked bales of hay to rescue two cows that were trapped in a pit under an abandoned silo for nearly a month. The cows, which had broken through the wooden flooring to become trapped, emerged in good health.
